Devastating flash floods in Texas have resulted in the loss of at least 81 lives across six counties, with one of the most tragic incidents occurring at Camp Mystic, a Christian girls’ retreat located in Kerrville. There, 27 campers and counselors have been confirmed deceased, while several others remain unaccounted for.
Camp Mystic expressed both sorrow and gratitude: “We ask for your continued prayers, respect, and privacy. May the Lord envelop us all in His presence.”
Survivor Amanda Sue Jones recounted to CNN that the flooding struck “like a wall of water,” leaving campers with little time to respond. Despite monitoring nearby tributaries, many were taken by surprise at the rapid deterioration of conditions.
Online, tributes to Emma Foltz continue to emerge: “You saved 14 little girls’ lives. That can never be repaid.”
